sea water sinus wash

I caught a slight head cold last week, what with the jet lag and all, but I can now confidently announce that, Ta-daaaah! I HAVE FOUND THE CURE FOR THE COMMON COLD.

It turns out that if you go to an Australian beach to swim in the early morning and you’re not used to surfing the big waves that roll in, you end up with impressive quantities of saltwater being washed at high speed through your sinuses.

I defy a germ to survive that.

Gah! Swimming on a beach in Australia! CONFOUND YOU, MISS SMITHERS!! I am sooo jealous. And to find the cure for the common cold, as it were, en passant – supercool! 🙂

I was once told that an excellent Japanese cold remedy (or gacky sinus remedy anyhow) was to take a bowl of warm salt water and, well, snort it. I should imagine it’s quite a bit nicer having it ‘done’ for you in lovely surroundings.

Jools – you’d have loved it – we followed our surf/drown with the most delicious breakfast on the waterfront, then went looking for dive centres and art galleries!

Az – eeek, that sounds suitably icky. Much better on a beach!
