Freud the cat

I have befriended – or been befriended by – a rotund black cat called Freud. He lives downstairs with our neighbour. But his name doesn’t suit him at all.

He’s not in the least judgemental or obsessed with sex or fixated on his mother. He’s warm and unashamedly affectionate, purrs like a train and is good at keeping his claws sheathed when he’s on a lap with bare legs.

Plus, his bipedal primate pet has a great library of books, CDs and DVDs.

Sounds like an ideal set up to me.

Meanwhile, you could always slightly change the cat’s name to Freuden, which I believe means ‘joy’ or something similar and sounds like it would suit him much better.

If he’s ‘…happy when he has both work and love’ then he’s a Freud alright!

And how excellent to have a well-read, intelligent film-watcher below. Very glad to hear this! Cats are wonderful. I hope you and he continue to get along!!

Owners do not choose their cats: cats choose their owners. It’s a compliment.
